The nearest airport is Salzburg which is about 45 minutes drive away. You can be in the apartment (or having a beer!) within the hour if the traffic is good. You can fly to Salzburg with the following airlines:-

Cable cars:
In summer they will be operational with Star Jet 1 + 2 daily (when the weather is fine) from 6th July to 3rd September 2009 and in addition: 22, 25,26 and 29 June; 2 July; 7,10,13,14, and 17 September.
In winter, they usually open 1st week of December and remain fully operational 0800 to 1530 daily until 3rd week of April.

Car hire: Not necessary, as bus and taxi transport within Flachau is excellent. If you wish to hire a car you can do so at the airport.

"If you want to wake up with an amazing view of the alps then this is the place for you. A stylish,spacious apartment which has fab floor to ceiling windows in the lounge and bedroom so always feels light and airy. The great underground parking facilities deserve a mention as they are completely secure and you don't even have to scrape your car off in the mornings! Another factor is there is a lift so if you're travelling with someone who's not great with stairs or in a wheel chair access would be easy. The ski bus stops near by but if you have a car you can drive to numerous ski resorts within 20 minutes drive. If you're up on the slopes there are plenty of places to eat self service or waiter service and you don't always need to speak German though it does help- thank goodness I had my husband with me! Can't recommend restaurants as we cooked for ourselves in the kitchen which had everything you could possibly need. Lastly the apartment has a huge balcony which would be fab in the summer for dining and sunbathing or just gazing across to the beautiful snow capped mountains on a cold winters night. Just a quick email to thank you for the use of your apartment last week. We had a great time and the snow was fantastic - if anything there was too much!. I was pleasantly surprised at how convenient Flachau is for Salzburg airport - 55 minutes after landing we were in your apartment - so much better than those long transfers from airports in France. The second pleasant surprise was the size and quality of the apartment, it is so modern and well equipped that you want for nothing, in fact my daughter and I both thought that your living room was probably the size of our entire apartment in Val Thorens last year, which made it a very relaxing place to be after a good days skiing. Flachau itself is a lovely typical Austrian village with plently of places to eat and drink where we found our favourite place by accident at the far end of town, namely "Per Du" - great Austrian food and wine in a typical Austrain setting. Skiing in the area can be quite challenging and relaxing at the same time - my opinion is that the blues and reds are probably a little bit more difficult than the average slopes given this rating at other resorts while the blacks take your breath away (well for me anyway at my age). The best skiing is definitely in the Flachau Winkl / Zauchensee area which is a quick and free bus ride up the valley from a bus stop directly outside the apartment building, so very convenient. The views from the apartment are stunning and I can imagine that this would make a wonderful location for a summer holiday walking in the hills, something I am planning to do in the not too distant future. Whether you want a quick weekend break or a longer more luxurious break your place seems to offer excellent value. "I would whole heartedly recommend this apartment if you are looking for a comfortable base for a break that takes you away from it all. The accommodation is of an excellent standard, and has everything that you would need in a holiday home and more! Both the housekeeper and owner are both very friendly and very helpful.
